Ich liebe Fotografie! Umso höher schlug mein Herz als mein Mann sich die "Phantom 3" gekauft hat. Heute hatte ich meine erste Flugstunde zum Sonnenuntergang am Canggu Beach und bin begeistert!! Unglaublich wie hoch, wie weit und schell das Ding fliegt und noch dazu super hochauflösende Filme und Fotos machen kann. In Deutschland gab es erste Aufschreie, das sei der Anfang vom Ende! Ja, so war's wohl auch bei der Erfindung von Elektrizität und Flugzeugen... Natürlich ist es ein absolutes Fliegergebot die Privatsphäre der Leute zu respektieren. Aber hallo? Übers Meer zu fliegen ist einfach gigantisch!

I love photography! So I was absolutely enthusiastic when my hubby came home with a "Phantom 3". Today I enjoyed my first sunset drone flight lesson at Canggu Beach. It was astonishing! It is unbelievable how high, how far and how fast the drone can fly - and it can take high resolution pictures and videos at the same time! From Germany I heard first rejections like "this is the beginning of the end!" It was the same with the invention of electricity or airplanes. Of course it is a MUST to respect peoples privacy. But hey! To be able to fly over the ocean is just dope!

Ich kann es kaum glauben, dass es schon Ende Juli ist. Mein Blog stand still und auch vieles andere in meinem Alltag. Denn: mein großes Buch-Projekt war in Arbeit. Es ist fertig und ich mache gerade eine kleine Dschungel-Pause mit viel Grün, frischer Luft und einem netten indonesischen Volk. Herrlich.

I can't believe how fast time has passed. My blog stood still and so did many other things in my daily life. The reason: my huge book project needed to be done. It is! So I'm on a creative jungle break surrounded by beautiful nature, fresh air and lovely Indonesian people. Just perfect.

Wir waren ein paar Tage in der Sarinbuana Eco Lodge in der Gegend um den Mount Batukaru. Das australische Paar Linda und Norm haben über 20 Jahre ein wundervolles Paradies kreiert. Sie leben ihren ökologischen Life-Style absolut konsequent, kümmern sich um die Dorfbewohner, haben Schulprojekte ins Leben gerufen und auf ihrer Bio-Farm drei Affen aufgenommen. Lily, Rose und Junior waren unsere direkten Nachbarn in der Lodge. Es war wundervoll sie in den frühen Morgenstunden zu beobachten, wenn die ersten Sonnenstrahlen den Tau auf dem Gemüsefeld vor unserer Hütte glitzern ließ. In den Lodge-Hütten darf man übrigens keine Insekten umbringen oder chemische Sprays verwenden. Es gibt eine natürliche Anti-Moskito-Lotion und falls einem eine Spinne oder ein Gecko im Weg ist, kann man Hilfe holen, welche dann das Tier "umsiedelt", da jedes einzelne Tierchen (bei den Spinnen kann man die Verniedlichungsform allerdings nicht verwenden) seine persönliche Aufgabe im Öko-System erfüllt. 

Ich bin tief beeindruckt von dem Lebenswerk, das die beiden Besitzer hier geschaffen haben. Der lange und steinige Anfahrtsweg war alle Mühe wert! Ach ja: es gibt keinen Pool in der Lodge, aber ein "Wasserloch" bestehend aus 3 Wasserstellen und einem Wasserfall. Hätte ich nicht die rutschigen Flipflops angehabt, wäre ich da natürlich viel Indiana Jones-mäßiger dort unterwegs gewesen... Ähäm, räusper...

We spent a couple of days at Sarinbuana Eco Lodge on Mount Batukaru. The Australian couple Norm and Linda have been creating that paradise since nearly 20 years, taking very good care of environment, local people and even started some education projects. They adopted two sumatran and one macaque monkey: Lily, Rose and Junior, who were our direct neighbors during our stay. I loved to observe them in the waking hours of day, when first sunrays touched the morning dew in the organic garden in front of our hut. In our bungalow was a note, saying that it is not ok to use chemical insect sprays or to kill insects. There was natural mosquito repellent lotion and in case one of the spiders or geckos would disturb us, we could call help and somebody would relocate the animal, since they all have their use in the eco-system. I love that fact and lodge attitude. By the way: there is no pool at the lodge, but much cooler: a waterhole! With three water ponds and one waterfall. Totally Indie-like!

I'm deeply impressed by Linda and Norms sustainable green lifestyle. Amazing people and a gorgeous place. The bumpy hilly road trip was totally worth it. Wonderful experience in a well kept paradise!

Made, eine junge Frau aus dem Dorf, zeigte mir wie man "Canang Bari" (Tempel-Opfergaben) und "Pajegan Buna" (traditioneller Hausschmuck) aus Blüten und Palmblättern macht. Ich fürchte ich brauche da auch 20 Jahre Übung um das so detailliert und präzise hinzubekommen wie die Balinesinnen. Es war toll mit Made unter der Teak-Pagode in der frischen Bergluft bei Regen im Trockenen zu sitzen und 1 Stunde zu basteln. 

The local balinese girl Made taught me at Sarinbuana Eco Lodge how to create "Canang Bari" (hindu temple offerings) as well as "Pajegan Bunga" (traditional festival decoration) made from coconut tree leaves and blossoms. I guess I need to practice 20 years (as she did) for doing it in such precision - like the Balinese women are able to do it. I enjoyed sitting with Made in the fresh mountain air in the rain, protected by a beautiful pagoda.

Auf unserer Wanderung zum Pucak Sari Tempel hat uns Made viel über die lokalen Pflanzen und ihre medizinische Verwendung sowie über die Früchte im Dschungel erklärt. Es hat mich ein bisschen an meine Heimatberge erinnert so durch die Sauerstoff gefüllte Waldluft zu spazieren - nur mit gigantischen Pflanzen. Im Hindu-Tempel durften wir an einer Opfergaben-Zermonie (mit Räucherstäbchen, Blüten und Wasser) teilnehmen. Am Ende bekamen wir vom Priester den Segen mit Wasser und ein Schutzbändchen in den Farben Rot, Weiß und Schwarz. Ein bewegendes Erlebnis für mich.

I did not just enjoy enormously the hike through beautiful jungle forests and to learn about what is produced in the Central Balinese mountains (around Mount Batukaru). This reminded me a little of hiking in my home forests, but with plants with gigantic leaves! Also I was allowed to join a hindu temple offering including getting a blessing by their holy priest. I was very moved during the ceremony and I am still wearing my black-white-red protection wrist band carefully. I am feeling blessed for having the chance to experience that.

Do: eat in a local family restaurant aloof the tourist streets! It is delicious and the hospitality of the locals is remarkable!

Visiting a traditional village

Die Insel Lombok steht völlig zu unrecht im Schatten der Nachbarinsel Bali. Aber gerade deshalb: genau das Richtige für uns! Einsame Strände, wunderschöne Natur, beeindruckende Wasserfälle und in einer abgelegenen Bucht ein Juwel: das Tugu Hotel. Wellness im Museum. Aufwachen wie eine indonesische Prinzessin, Zweisamkeit, Dinieren bei Sonnenuntergang am Strand oder einfach auf dem eigenen Häuschen ganz privat und Kunst und Antiquitäten überall. Meine Seele konnt wieder richtig atmen und es war entsetzlich schwer, diesen wunderbaren Ort wieder zu verlassen. Ich wäre gerne noch ein bisschen länger geblieben, so 2 oder 3 Jahre... Grandios! Empfehlenswert! Einzigartig! 

Lombok is rumoured to be in the shadow of its neighbor island Bali. Wrong! It is a precious island with beautiful nature, nice beaches and impressive waterfalls. The artsy Tugu Hotel is a treasure, hidden in the quiet north west at Sire Beach. If you love to hang out on white, private sand beaches, listen to traditional sounds, spend unforgettable hours in a temple-like spa, have dinner at the beach or on your private roof, go hiking or snorkeling and relax deeply and completely - then you're just at the right place here. I enjoyed it so much - and to be honest, I cried a little, when we had to leave this gorgeous, hospitable place. Amazing! I highly recommend to come here for as long as possible! ♥

Wie das Tor zu einem verwunschenen Garten öffnet sich einem der Eingang zu Puri Mangga. Die Regenzeit macht einem nichts aus, bei 29°+ und diesem Ausblick über die Reisterrassen und Regenwaldhügel hinunter aufs Meer im Norden der Insel.  

[Like a door to a magical garden seems the entrance of Puri Mangga to be. The rainseason doesn't bother us at all. The amazing view over the rice terrasses and rainforrest hills down to the ocean in the north of the island is stunning.]

Visiting Gitgit Waterfalls. What a beautiful nature!!

Hier ist es bei Sonnenschein sicher wunderschön. Leider mussten wir wegen des strömenden Regens abbrechen... [Must be stunning in the sunshine, but we hade to cut it short because of the incredible rain!]

...und uns im Kopi Café unterstellen. Hier gibt es die balinesischen "Katzenkaffee" Luwak. Ich konnte es kaum glauben, aber tatsächlich "stellt" den ein wieselartiges Tier, der Fleckenmusang, "her". Er frisst die Kaffeepflanzen, kann aber nur die Kaffeefrüchte verdauen, die restliche Bohne scheidet er wieder aus. Die Exkremente werden eingesammelt und in einem aufwändigen Prozess zum Luwak-Kaffee geröstet. John Cleese beschreibt den Kaffee als „erdig, modrig, mild, sirupgleich, gehaltvoll und mit Untertönen von Dschungel und Schokolade“.

Ganz ehrlich? Geht so.

[So we had to hide from the rain in the Kopi Café. The famous Luwak Coffee is served here. I couldn't believe it, but it is true. The coffee is made by a weasel-     resembling-animal. The musang eats the coffee plants, but can't digest the coffee beans, which he excretes. The excrements are getting picked up by the farmers and in a extensive process roasted to an expensive coffee. John Cleese described it as "earthy, fusty, mild, sirup likely, rich in content and with a whiff of jungle and chocolate". Honestly? Ma ma hu hu!]

Der kam leider viel zu kurz, ist aber definitiv ein Grund nochmal hierher zu kommen. Dieser ruhende Buddha, die gemütliche Thaihose und der Sarong begleiten mich aber nun nach China.

[NEVER miss UBUD!!! Unfortunately we had too less time, so we absoultely have to come back one day! At least I made it for a short break, so the relaxing buddha, the comfty thai trousers and the sarong will acompagny me back to China.]
